A very fine French 19th century oil on board titled "Summer Roses" by Charles Baptiste Schreiber (French, 1845-1903) depicting an interior Louis XV style room with a standing and posing young maiden holding a rose, her left hand resting on a table with a vase full of roses. Signed: Ch. Schriber (l/r); within a parcel-gilt wood carved frame. Circa: Paris: 1890-1900.
Schreiber Charles Baptiste (French, 1847-1902) was a French painter born in Paris in 1847. His inspiration fell on the religious and ecclesiastical world, but he also painted interior animated scenes as well as landscapes. Schreiber studied in the studio of Léon BONNAT and debuted at the Salon in 1868. The museum of Reims exhibits "A Young Italian Girl Knitting", Ca. 1876"
