Japanese Six-Panel Meiji Screen of Egrets on Gold Leaf

About

Captivating Japanese six-panel late Meiji/early Taisho Showa period screen featuring five egrets or herons in a water landscape. Painted with vibrant colored pigments over gold leaf squares with a rich, aged patina. The painting is signed on the right side Fujiwara ason Kanefusa made in the Nihonga school style. Large iris blooms and indigo blue water decorate the screen. Set in a black lacquered frame with period correct etched brass embellishments. From an estate in Hollywood, CA.
