Large size and one of a kind, 1955 dated work of art, after world famous painter Carl Spitzweg. This here large size and very well executed painting is another one of our recent great finds. Early 19th century, German-born artist Carl Spitzweg in his lifetime created a number of extremely good (and therefor also very valuable) paintings of 'archetypical personas'. This is also what he became famous for and his paintings still go for very substantial prices to both collectors and museums around the world. This here, extremely well, hand-painted copy of his masterpiece "the alchemist" was made in 1955 and this probably is one of the best paintings 'after' Carl Spitzweg that can be found anywhere in the world. The perfection with which the artist has managed to 'communicate' the details, the colors, the light, but also the overal balance onto the canvas is simply astonishing. Especially given the extra large size of this work of art. We are offering this great condition specimen in its original, vintage frame and at a fraction of what one would have to pay for an original.
