Large Vintage French Framed Original Oil Painting of Forest on Stretched Canvas
About the Item
A beautiful and striking piece of original, vintage art. This large and colorful oil painting has been sourced in France. It is not signed nor it is dated. However, from the label on the canvas structure (see photo) it is possible to date the canvas between 1965 and 1980 when the art supplier Lefranc Bourgeois used the simple, circular logo LB. It is thus safe to believe that the painting dates from the 1970s.
The painting depicts large trees in a deep forest. The artist has captured the density of the forest and the greatness of the trees by skillfully combining light, color and contrasts in a vertical scenery. The result is an eye-catching and joyful piece of art.
The painting has been custom framed in a magnificent wood frame that really enhances the painting. Together they make a beautiful ensemble.
Overall, the artwork is in good vintage condition. The painting has not been cleaned, I leave that decision up to the new owner. The painting suffers from minor crazing on the bottom and top edges (see photos), the rest of the painting has been spared. No structural issues. The frame is also in good condition: only very minor signs of wear consistent with use and age (see photos).
