About the Item
Charming and full of light, this gouache painting of a young man in a black swimsuit lounging on a wide beach was painted by Louise Alix in the 1950s. The man's rosy complexion, the canopies of trees in the distance, and the pale blue sky, give this scene a freshness and informality that is delightful. Alix exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the prestigious Salon des Indépendants. The medium is gouache on heavy paper. The reverse includes the artist's estate stamp.
