About the Item

Limited edition print "Applique Quilt" features a section of stylized traditional Country-style quilt, framed with an abstract flower garland. The etching captures an old fashioned, antiqued quality of a hand-crafted quilts that is supported by the use of limited palette of organic, earth-toned brown and yellow colors with muted navy-blue accent color. The print is signed and numbered by the artist in pencil; it has been professionally matted with mocha brown paper and framed in maple wood frame. The paper on the back is fully intact, but has a couple of small tears, please see pictures. The overall size of the print is approximately 5" by 4", and of the frame - 11.15" by 9". Sarah Rishel is an established artist and printmaker, living in Atlanta, GA. Rishel received a BFA in Graphic Design and Printmaking at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Her approach to printmaking centers on the subtle detail, richness, depth and texture, that are unique to intaglio etching; she frequently returns to subjects of motionless scenes of trees and countryside themes. Rishel crafts all the etching plates herself and prints each edition completely by hand. Rishel has participated in juried art festivals and gallery exhibitions for 30 years; she is a past exhibitor at Artisphere, as well as Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Ann Arbor Street Fair, St. Louis Art Fair, Plaza Art Fair, Main St. Ft. Worth Art Festival, and many more national and regional shows. Rishel has won numerous awards for her hand-colored Intaglio etchings, and her images are part of private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., Canada, England, and Japan. Rishel retired from art shows in 2011.
