About Cadini di Misurina The Italian Dolomites have some of the most imposing mountains I have come across. Driving up into the mountains to the start of our hike we started to see parts of these impressive peaks rising above the mountains in front of it. Once we stepped out of the car I was eager to get closer to these mountains for a better view. While getting closer, the views on our hike kept getting more impressive after every turn. The path we were walking on became narrower and narrower and the cliffs to our left were getting steeper and steeper. Arriving at the spot where the photo is taken from, I realized it is one of the most beautiful places I have seen with my own eyes. Looking up to the peaks you feel tiny amongst these giants. The spot where the person is standing is about 2300 meters (7545 feet) high. The mountain peaks in the background reach heights up to 2839 meters (9315 feet) We did this hike at the end of October on a gloomy day that was very stormy and cold. The temperature was about 2 degrees Celsius. But it felt much colder due to the 120 km/h wind with wind gusts reaching even higher speeds. During the walk we often had to lean into the wind to not get blown over. About the print The photo is printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper Maxima / 220 grams. The photo is mounted on a dibond plate. On the backside of the dibond plate there is a frame from which the photo can be hung. The photo is displayed under 3 millimeter thick acrylic glass. The glossy acrylic glass creates an amazing sense of depth in the photo. The dimensions of the printed photo are 120 cm x 180 cm, approximately 47.24 inch x 70.87 inch. The photo in the size of 120 cm x 180 cm comes in a limited edition of 5 + 1 AP. The colors and brightness of the photo may differ from what you see on your screen. Different types of screens display colors differently. Also, brightness levels vary from screen to screen. An iPhone or Mac will give a good interpretation of the colors of the photo. The photo comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. This certificate has a numbered hologram corresponding with the hologram on the back of the photo. About Christiaan Nies Christiaan is a self-taught photographer based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His photography focuses on travel, adventure and the outdoors. Being born in Switzerland and raised in the Netherlands, many holidays were spent in the mountains. Combined with a passion for photography, this formed the basis of his work nowadays. His photography takes him to places of the beaten track. Leaving the ordinary trying to find the extraordinary. The pursuit to capture moments which evoke emotion is often harsh. Conditions are tough and rarely ideal. Hiking for hours day after day, long drives in the car and short nights of sleep. More often than not, the light isn’t what you hoped for. But the rare moments when everything aligns makes it all worth it. A recurring subject in his work is capturing the difference in scale between humans and nature. Small people in big places.
