Rare Linocut Poster "Vallavris Exhibition 1954" by Pablo Picasso

Rare Linocut Poster "Vallavris Exhibition 1954" by Pablo Picasso

By Pablo Picasso

Located in San Diego, CA

Highly collectible and rare linocut poster "Vallavris Exhibition 1954" by Pablo Picasso, circa 1954.. The print is in good vintage and measures 24" x 30". It is presented in a simple black wood frame and is signed in the print. Super cool and hard to find Picasso poster! #2912 Starting in the 1950s, Picasso worked with the linocut printer Hidalgo Arnéra to produce posters for ceramic exhibitions and bullfights. The printer described their working method as such: “Picasso worked at night; in the morning, Marcel the chauffeur brought what he had completed to the print shop with notes added by Jacqueline Roque. I pulled the proofs and returned them to [his home] La Californie at exactly 1:30. This regular rhythm of working continued for eight years, every day, except Saturday and Sunday.” This idiosyncratic procedure speaks to the collaborative effort of these printmaking ventures, which included his partner, his printer, and his chauffeur Title: Vallauris Exhibition 1954 Artist: Pablo Picasso Printer: Printed by Hidalgo Arnéra Publisher: Published by Hidalgo Arnéra Date: 1954 Medium: Linoleum cut ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in 1881, Pablo Ruiz y Picasso followed in his father’s footsteps as an academically trained painter and studied art at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in his native Spain. Picasso traveled for the first time to Paris at age 19, establishing a studio there in 1904. He soon began a relationship with Fernande Olivier...

Vintage Jefferson Airplane Concert Poster by Greg Irons, Bill Graham, 1967

Vintage Jefferson Airplane Concert Poster by Greg Irons, Bill Graham, 1967

Located in San Diego, CA

Super rare original 1967 concert poster designed by Greg Irons, produced for performances by Jefferson Airplane and presented in San Francisco by legendary promoter Bill Graham at the Winterland Ballroom. #5067 This striking psychedelic composition—featuring Irons’ unmistakable graphic style, bold color fields, and surreal figural imagery—captures the visual language of the late 1960s San Francisco rock scene at its peak. Irons, a central figure in the Fillmore and Winterland poster movement, is celebrated for blending underground comics sensibility with concert advertising, producing some of the era’s most visually dynamic designs. Printed in a tall vertical format and originally intended for short-term street and venue display, surviving examples of Irons’ Jefferson Airplane posters are increasingly scarce, particularly in clean, unfaded condition. This is is a great piece of rock-n-roll history and increasingly difficult to find! Details: Artist/Designer: Greg Irons Promoter: Bill Graham Venue: Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco Performers: Jefferson Airplane, Mother Earth and The Flamin' Groovies Year: 1967 Dimensions: 14 in W × 21.5 in H Medium: Original offset lithograph on paper Condition: Original 1967 Winterland concert poster showing authentic wear from period distribution, including minor edge wear, pin holes in the corners and light creasing. Colors remain vibrant. Good to very good vintage condition. Framing: Presented unframed and suitable for archival framing. Historical Context: The Winterland Ballroom was one of Bill Graham’s most iconic venues, hosting many of Jefferson Airplane’s most important performances during the height of the psychedelic era. Posters designed by Greg Irons from this period are especially sought after, as they bridge the Fillmore poster...
