Antique "Würmer" Worm Wall Chart by Rudolf Leuckart, 1885
About the Item
Rudolf Leuckart (1822 - 1898) was a German zoologist and a professor of comparative anatomy and physiology at the University of Greifswald (today: University of Greifswald). He is regarded as one of the founders of modern parasitology. In 1856, he started the publication of his "Fauna Parasitica", which included descriptions and illustrations of over 1,300 parasites, including more than 700 species never before described. This gorgeous antique poster is from the original set consisting of 113 'Wandtafeln', printed between 1877 and 1892 by Th. G Fischer & Co in Kassel and the Hermann Richter & Co in Leipzig on behalf of the Imperial Royal Prussian Zoological Museum in Berlin. The echinoderm chart 12 from Series 1 comprises with its detailed illustrations a unique scientific document as well as an instructive teaching aid for science courses during school.
