About the Item

A Classic US one sheet poster for the 1957 B-movie thriller 'Not Of This Earth,' one of the earliest sci-fi movies made by prolific low-budget producer/director Roger Corman in what has become a seventy year career. In an alien-vampire mashup, the plot saw an extraterrestrial humanoid sent to earth to discover whether human blood can save his dying race. One of a wave of low-budget, exploitative B-movies produced for the burgeoning teen drive-in market, the film was released as the bottom half of a double feature with Corman's 'Attack of the Crab Monsters.' More often than not, the best thing about a B-movie is the poster, and this is no exception. Designed by Albert Kallis, one of the great American movie poster artists, the iconic silent scream immediately captures your attention and certainly did its job drawing in the viewers - the film reportedly made a 400% profit in the first week! Despite its cheap thrills, Time Out reviewed 'Not Of This Earth' as "a minor sci-fi gem," and the film has spawned at least two remakes. CONDITION Conservation backed on linen. Backing has smoothed one vertical and three horizontal machine folds and a few minor nicks and creases to corners and edges. Light colour touching to fold lines. Some overall toning and darkening to edges. Minor printer's ink transfer to left margin and a few grubby marks to lower margin. Lower left corner lifting slightly from linen. Image and colours otherwise excellent.

'Thunderbirds Are Go' Original Vintage Australian Daybill Movie Poster, 1966
Located in Devon, GB
Printed in stunning stone lithography, this explosive Australian Daybill poster advertised the first full length feature film based on the British sci-fi Supermarionation television series 'Thunderbirds.' Created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, 'Thunderbirds' combined a form of electronic marionette puppetry, which they named "Supermarionation," with scale model special effects sequences. Set in the 2060s, 'Thunderbirds' followed on from the Anderson's earlier Supermarionation productions including 'Fireball XL5' and 'Stingray.' The series followed the exploits of International Rescue, a life-saving organisation equipped with technologically-advanced land, sea, air and space rescue craft headed by a fleet of five vehicles named the Thunderbirds and launched from the organisation's secret base of operations in the Pacific Ocean.
