About the Item

Plate 26: 'Oostenryk. Orde van de IJzeren Kroon - Orde van Elizabeth Theresia.' (Austria. Order of the Iron Crown - Order of Elizabeth Theresia). The Austrian Imperial Order of the Iron Crown (Italian: Imperial Ordine della Corona Ferrea German: Kaiserliche Orden Krone der Eisernen), was reestablished in 1815 by Emperor Franz I. The Order of the Iron Crown had previously been an order of the Napoleanic Kingdom of Italy. The Order of Elisabeth and Theresa (in German: Elisabeth-Theresien-Orden) was a decoration of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, created in 1750 by Empress Consort Elizabeth Christine in her testament. It was later revised in 1771 by Empress Maria Theresa, as the Elizabetho-Theresian Military Foundation. This print originates from ‘Geschiedkundige beschrijving der oudere en nieuwere, thans bestaande Ridderorden. - Afbeeldingen der Ridderorden’ by G.L. de Rochemont and J. Bischoff. A rare and expensive work on in 1843 existing cavalier / knight / military orders. Published in Amsterdam, 1843.

Order of the Most Holy Annunciation - Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus - Military Order of Savoy). The Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation (Ordine Supremo della Santissima Annunziata) is an order of chivalry, or knighthood, originating in mediaeval Italy.
