Early Nineteenth Century Colored Etching of a Wall in Pompeii

About the Item

A framed architectural engraving of a wall in Pompeii titled "In Casa Pseudourbana Di Pompei piano superiore Parete corta dell'antistufa". Translates as follows: In the Pseudourban House of Pompeii, upper floor, frescoed wall of a house in Pompeii. Engraved by Francesco Morelli (1767-1830) a French-Italian painter and engraver known for depicting Pompeian subjects and printed by Antonio Lamberti (1730-1838). Now framed and glazed. A very striking full sheet colored engraving from the neoclassical period. Color possibly of a later date.
