Zevs, Liquidated Louis Vuitton (Multicolore), 2011. Screenprint, signed

About the Item

Zevs (b. 1977) Liquidated Louis Vuitton (Multicolore), 2011 Screenprint in colors on Arches 88 300gsm paper. Signed and numbered in pencil along the lower edge. Published by Lazarides, London, bears the publisher's blind stamp. This print is unframed and will be sent rolled in a tube. French artist Zevs critiques consumerism and taunts corporations and brands by manipulating capitalist iconography through inventive graffiti projects and billboard interventions. Zevs began his street art career with spray-painted tags and silhouettes of Parisian street furniture in the 1990s, and garnered more international attention with his “Visual Kidnapping” series (2002–2005) in which he sliced figures out of billboards with a scalpel, then sprayed a ransom note in the vacant space. Zevs is also known for his “Liquidation” series, which includes Liquidated Google (2013), appropriating familiar logos and modifying them with vertical drips of paint. He was famously arrested in Hong Kong in 2009 for painting a liquidated Chanel logo onto a Giorgio Armani store. The first major solo exhibition of his work was held in 2008 at Copenhagen’s Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek and he has since exhibited regularly with De Buck Gallery in New York.
