History and Provenance: This cross was brought to Spain in the early 20th century by Serge Otzoup, a prominent officer in the Tsarist army and an art collector. From a young age, Otzoup acquired numerous icons in his native Russia. After the Bolshevik Revolution, Otzoup was forced to leave Russia, traveling across Europe and eventually finding a new home in Spain, where he continued his passion for collecting art.
