Product Description: Dimensions: Height: 200 cm Width: 130 cm Thickness: 6 cm Materials and Craftsmanship: Cross Body: Made of wood painted with oil, providing a robust and artistic base. Front Coating: Covered with silver and gilded silver, offering exceptional shine and elegance. Back Coating: Adorned with gilded copper leaf, ensuring high-quality finishing from every angle. History and Provenance: This cross was brought to Spain in the early 20th century by Serge Otzoup, a prominent officer in the Tsarist army and an art collector. From a young age, Otzoup acquired numerous icons in his native Russia. After the Bolshevik Revolution, Otzoup was forced to leave Russia, traveling across Europe and eventually finding a new home in Spain, where he continued his passion for collecting art. Collection and Exhibitions: Serge Otzoup's collection of icons has been widely recognized and exhibited in prestigious venues: 1955: National Library of Madrid 1965: Casa del Buen Retiro, Madrid 1965: Prado Museum 1972: Banco de Bilbao, Madrid 1972-2024: Casa Grande, Torrejón de Ardoz (private museum) About Serge Otzoup: Serge Otzoup (1886-1974), also known as Sergio Otzoup, was a distinguished Russian art collector exiled in Spain. His collection, comprising over 1200 icons from Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania, stands as a testament to his lifelong dedication and passion for religious art.
