"Mythological Panel with Hercules and the Bull," Bas Relief with Nude

$4,500

About

Boldly sculpted and beautifully finished with a deep mossy green glaze, this bas relief sculpture depicts a nude Hercules, possibly carrying the Cretan bull, followed by a robed female figure with boar and hare. Clearly influenced by Classical precedents, the relief is strongly three-dimensional and the nude is beautifully modeled. Sculpted and molded in the early 20th century, this is the only example of this panel we have seen.
