About the Item

An impressive early Victorian blue enamel, diamond and gold snake bracelet, the realistically carved head with open mouth, the eyebrows and top of head with rose and old mine-cut diamonds estimated to weigh 3 carats in total, all set in silver, the tapered and coiled blue enamelled body hinged in six places, mounted in yellow gold, tested as 18ct gold, circa 1840, measuring approximately 3x7cm, gross weight 75.5 grams. : This impressive Victorian blue enamelled serpent bracelet comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The motif of the serpent became popular in the Victoria era after Prince Albert reaching the height of its popularity in the 1840s. This fine example is enamelled in royal blue and encrusted with dazzling diamonds. The hinges in the metal work allow for the bracelet to be coiled around a wrist and would look wonderful at a formal event. This antique bracelet is in excellent condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold.
