About the Item
This luminous blue and grayish-blue chalcedony bracelet was created in the Arts & Crafts style though it dates to a later era; probably the 1970s. This one-of-a-kind bracelet was completely handmade using natural highly translucent chalcedony gems that range in tone from faint blue to rich periwinkle. At 141 grams, it's a satisfyingly substantial bracelet that will not get lost on your arm.
The central flower-shaped arrangement is composed of one round 21mm chalcedony cabochon surrounded by eight oval and pear-shaped stones, along with two large 20mm x 17mm pear-shaped cabochons north and south. This collection of stones are soldered together as one piece that is curved to follow the arch of your wrist. On either side of this central design element are nine chalcedony cabochons, each bezel set and joined by hand-formed links. The links terminate on both ends at a row of 5 stones: two round, three ovals. The bracelet closes securely with a box clasp and safety latch. Because the central portion of this very large bracelet is fused, it's not a sloppy piece; the gems don't spin around on your wrist and become tangled. It retains its form and only the stones on the sides that are linked by chain can move freely. It's a clever design.
The bracelet measures 7 ½ in length and is 3 ¾ wide. So it should fit many but the largest wrists. The bracelet is marked 925 for the silver and has an unknown maker's mark I cannot identify.
Gorgeous, unique, and featuring the most distinctive blue in the gem world, this vintage chalcedony bracelet is a creative, fresh statement piece.

View AllLavender Jade Bracelet, Stretch, Guatemala Jadeite, Silver, and Agarwood
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This gorgeous 8.5" beaded stretch bracelet is composed of 21 luminous, 10mm, pale lavender natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala. The polish on these beads is softer than it could be -jadeite is a hard stone that can shine like a grand piano. But here, the lapidary artists chose not to take the polish so high. In my opinion, this was the perfect choice because it alters the way the lavender beads hold onto light. These beads are opaque -far from translucent. And yet. Somehow, they glow. They truly do. A 12mm seafoam green natural and untreated jadeite bead -also from Guatemala- is the focal point. A pair of handmade silver beads...

Jade Bracelet Guatemalan Jadeite Jade, Silver, Beaded Stretch, 7" Sm-Med Size
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This 7" beaded stretch bracelet will fit small to medium hands and wrists and is composed of 28 hand-carved and hand-polished natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala.
The beads are an almost aquamarine bluish-green, and alternate between 8mm rondelle-shaped beads and round oness. All of the beads are highly translucent; almost watery. It's a tricky color to capture accurately in the studio, so I've included images taken with my phone outside in natural light and inside near a window.
Seven 2.5mm wide handmade sterling silver beads are stationed along the bracelet and an 8.5mm cylindrical bead serves as a focal point. This bracelet is highly translucent and luminous. The pictures describe the tones better than I can. Jadeite has a unique crystal structure that causes it to process light in a completely unique way, with the result being luxurious luminosity, even in the dimmest light.
This is no flimsy stretch bracelet like others you've come across. You'll appreciate the quality of this piece the moment you take it out of the box. It's a step (or three) up from stretch bracelets you've seen elsewhere. I use two strength-proven elastic cords, not just one. This is a durable bracelet you can wear and enjoy, without having to worry about. It possesses the authority of quality and rarity, so you could wear it alone. Remember: this is a bracelet composed of one of the rarest gemstones on earth. But it also looks great along with several other bracelets. I like to wear four at a time.
Luxurious and so unique, this could become your signature bracelet if you have a medium-sized wrist.
About Jadeite from Guatemala:
The vast majority of jadeite comes from one location: Burma (Myanmar). Jadeite forms under highly specific geological conditions that exist in only seven or eight locations on the planet and Guatemala has these conditions. The ancient Mayan civilization knew jade well and used it for jewelry, masks and more. But like the ancient cities themselves, the jungles consumed the jade mines...

Jade Bracelet Guatemalan Jadeite Jade, 18K, Beaded Stretch, 69mm, 8.75" XL Size
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This 8.75" beaded stretch bracelet is composed of the most stunning and unique hand-carved jadeite jade beads from Guatemala. With an inner diameter of approximately 69mm unstretched, this will those with fit medium, large and XL hands and wrists. As long as your hand is larger than 69mm measured from knuckle to knuckle, it won't slide off your wrist.
The bracelet is composed entirely of 28 hand-carved and hand-polished natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala and they vary widely in both size and shape. From a 10mm x 8mm cylindrical black jade bead to an 8.15mm almost perfectly round deep emerald-green bead. Two beads are in the 16mm range and several of them have a "primitive" cut, much like the beads the ancient Mayan's would have worn.
The tones here are spectacular. From a lush jungle green to the iconic bluish-green only found in Guatemala. There is yellowish green, pale mint green, teal, and emerald. Even the large opaque beads possess a luminous quality. And the translucent beads are just captivating. Three solid 18K gold 5mm beads and one thick, 11mm hand-hammered 18K gold ring complete the bracelet. It weighs a hefty 55 grams, so it's deeply satisfying on the wrist.
As a second-generation jade collector, the unique jade from Guatemala has become my favorite variety of jade; my favorite gem.
Burma (Myanmar) has long been the primary source for all jadeite in the world. While jadeite is found in other areas in very small amounts, none can equal the magnificence and range of colors that Burmese jade has to offer. It is among the world's most expensive gems because fine jadeite is extremely rare.
Jadeite can only form under highly specific geological conditions and Guatemala has these conditions. The ancient Mayan civilization knew jade well and used it for jewelry, masks and more. But like the ancient cities themselves, the jungles consumed the jade mines...

Jade, Bangle, Created with Ohio Steel & 18K Gold, 70mm, 9"
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
I created this jadeite jade bead bangle with heavy gauge Ohio steel that I hand-worked into shape. This open bangle is worn by sliding your wrist through the bangle's narrow opening. Then you slide the "S" through the loop. It measures 9" in length but the beads add thickness making it wear more like an 8.5" bracelet. It can fit many different wrist sizes. As long as your hand measures more than 70mm from knuckle to knuckle, it won't slide off your hand. But an individual with a large to extra-large hand and wrist will probably find this bangle most comfortable.
You can wear it alone or stacked with others.
Twenty-six hand-carved beads move freely along the steel. These are untreated hand-cut and polished beads in a variety of green and greenish-gray tones. The beads range in size from 6.40mm to 8.24 and they average 8mm. A 7.6mm gold ring serves as a slender focal point.
Like most of the pieces in this collection, there is no lab certification included for the jade. This saves money helps me keep the price down, but does require a leap of faith on your end. All of the jade I use in my collection are from previously-tested "batches" from specific suppliers and all previous samples have tested as "A" jade. I only use "leftover" jade beads that I had in my collection after creating a necklace and then sending that necklace to the gem lab for testing and certification. Even though I can identify jade treatments with about 99% accuracy, I only sell jade that has been lab tested and is natural and untreated. Even my nephrite has been tested, which is highly uncommon in the industry. Yet Tiffany & Co. coats their nephrite necklaces...

Located in Chipping Campden, GB
This fabulous, unusual, antique Victorian Scottish Silver bracelet is Circa 1860-1880, set with fabulous large fancy Agate links. Each polished agate link is a wonderful hue showing its natural grain from within. Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.
Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce.
Beautiful workmanship adorns this bracelet all round.
