About the Item

Dual sterling silver cuffs by talented Pima silversmith Dylan Chiago. The upper arm cuff has coral, turquoise and opal embellishments. The lower arm bangle has a small coral stone. The upper cuff is slightly adjustable (around 9 ½”) The lower bangle is 8” About the artist Dylan Chiago is a contemporary jewelry artist who is equally skilled in tufa casting, lost wax casting, overlay and inlay. He has been an active jeweler since the early 2000’s. Dylan is the son of a Gila River/Pima father and a Cochiti/Jemez pueblo mother. He was raised in the greater Phoenix, Arizona area and currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He holds a BA from Fort Lewis College in Fort Lewis, Colorado. His silversmith education was undertaken with his uncle, well-known Jemez pueblo jeweler Phillip C. Loretto with whom he learned the major areas of jewelry making and lapidary work. He apprenticed and refined his techniques under another well-known silversmith, Gibson Nez. Gibson was a major influence on this young artist until just before Gibson’s death in 2007. Dylan does his own cutting and lapidary work as well as his own smithing. He uses some of the finest stones available from Lapis lazuli, both black and red coral, Australian and Ethiopian opals to the classic turquoise. Dragonflies, butterflies and more contemporary images and styling is representative of his work.
