Erté Art Deco Style "Beloved Brooch", Circa 1980s USA Only

About the Item

This is a rare, original limited edition Erté silver, 14K yellow gold, mother-of-pearl, and diamond brooch created in the early 1980s. This particular brooch is signed on the back, "© CFA STERLING 14K 182/250" The brooch measures 47.20mm x 36.89mm x 5.10mm The face of the brooch depicts a woman with an elaborate headpiece, which is studied with 8 tiny bright little diamonds set among expertly-rendered granulation. The glossy black onyx background of the brooch is reiterated with two beveled bars of onyx on both sides of the frame; one on the upper portion, one on the lower. The piece is exquisitely crafted. Erté was a Russian-born French artist who defined the visual aesthetic of the Art Deco era with his iconic illustrations. In 1915 he sold his first cover illustration to Harper's Bazar. He would go on to create over 200 covers for the magazine. In 1979 he agreed to have limited-edition jewels based on his illustrations. The jewelry was created by Circle of Fine Art. 328 original, limited edition jewels were created. There are not many of Erté's fine jewels on the market and this brooch is a favorite. This item can only ship within the United States.
