Antique Georgian Amethyst and Cannetille Work Brooch, 18k Gold, Acanthus Leaf
Located in NEWARK, GB
You cannot help but be charmed by this luxurious antique Georgian Amethyst and cannetille worn brooch. There is something extra special about antique cannetille pieces, the tiny details and the hours of work that went into creating such delicate and elaborate designs. Rich 18kt gold gives a warm glow to this piece with the rich golden leaves scrolling outward, intercepting the fine gold cannetille work and the lovely vibrant Amethyst stones. The stones are foil backed and set into an array surrounding the main centre stone, the large oval centre stone has light warm hues from the foil backing. It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener this is a replacement of the original buy stil in keeping with style, later 19th century. A well made brooch with lots of fine detailing. Old XIXth BROOCH, Enamels, Silver, Vermeil, Antik BROOCH, Burgundy France
Located in SAINT-CLOUD, FR
OLD BROOCH early 19th century, antique brooch, in Georgian French enamel and vermeil silver. Brooch is decorated with an enamel motif typical of the town of Bourg-en-Bresse, in the region of Burgundy, France. French jewel from the Restoration period in France, Georgian period, between 1819 and 1838. dimensions: width 5 cm, height 4.5 cm, weight 14 g, good condition for its age, but I think the clasp needle is not original (hence the price, which is always negotiable). Bressan enamels are traditional jewels exclusively made in Bourg-en-Bresse in the department of Ain, they are made of enamel, fine particles of gold, all set on a mount. The Bressan tradition dates the origin of this technique back to the 14th century from 1397 when an enameller from the city, Master Guillaume, was entrusted with the sword of Amédée VIII of Savoy to decorate the pommel and the scabbard. This regional jewel, intimately linked to the traditional Bressan costume, reached its peak in the years 1800 to 1900, both in their creation and in their distribution. In the middle of the 19th century, the Bressan goldsmiths Amédée Bonnet and Amédée Fornet gave new impetus to these regional creations. In their workshops in Bourg-en-Bresse, they initiated a new genre, incorporating enamel plates, gold sequins, enamel beads and filigree arabesques into colored backgrounds. Either end of the pin is marked with an A'M maker's mark, for Abraham Metzker, Austria 1867-1922. In our opinion the diamond colour range is I to J and our opinion the clarity is VS2.
