Antique 14K Gold Shell Earrings w Pearls by Sloan & Co. French Screw Back Style
About the Item
I'm pleased to offer a lovely pair of antique 14K gold Shell earrings by Sloan & Company. These earrings have French screw backs so are meant for non-pierced ears, though they could be converted to pierced style earrings, if desired.
Each earring features a sizable, well detailed scallop shell in 14K yellow gold with rose gold accenting the curling lower part pf the shell and, a creamy pearl towards the center. Original hallmarks for 14K gold and the maker's mark for Sloan & Co. are on the backings.
Measuring approximately 7/8 x 7/8 of an inch in size (15.8 x 15.8 mm), the shells have a lovely presence, while still being lightweight and comfortable to wear. On my scale, the pair weighs a total of 4.4 grams.
In very good antique condition, they have some nice old patina, and just a bit of discoloration. The backings still operate well.
