18K Gold Nefertiti Dangle Earrings with Lotus Flowers & Latching Ear Wires
About the Item
Beautifully designed and made, these elegant Nefertiti earrings are the nicest I've come across. I especially love the lotus flower details on the ear wires.
Crafted of richly hued gold testing at 18K gold or a little higher, the earrings features a dangling drop of a detailed portrayal of Nefertiti, Queen of Egypt, in profile. Designed to be mirror images, (and can be worn facing in or out) the drops sway from hallmarked ear wires ornamented with lotus flower motifs. They remain in wonderful condition and are ready to wear and enjoy.
With a solid construction (not hollow) the elegantly depicted Nefertiti (whose name translates as "a beautiful woman has come" reigned during the 14th century BC) looks to have been modeled upon the famous bust, attributed to the sculptor Thutmose.
With a total length of approximately 1 and 5/8 of an inch (41 mm), the earrings have a lovely and eye-catching presence, with both a matte and polished surface on the front and a polished surface on the reverse.
The latching gold ear wires are original, with tiny hallmarks I can't decipher. Together, the pair weigh a nice 5.5 grams. They are substantial for earrings, so probably not best for someone who needs to wear very lightweight earrings.
In very good vintage condition, these beauties show only very light wear, including a few scratches on the back where the gold was tested before they came to me.
