1912 Tibet Silver Tangka Coin 18K Gold Earrings
About the Item
Two large (27 mm) authentic Tibetan silver "tangka" coins issued during the realm of the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatsho, in 1912 are surrounded by Steven Battelle designed delicate twist wire 18K gold bezels dangling below 6 mm gold discs with similar ornament, all on safety-clasp ear wires. The coins display ornate lotus designs surrounded by the Buddhist eight auspicious symbols: the Dharma wheel, Conch Shell, Victory Banner, Umbrella, Lotus Flower, Vase, Golden Fish, and Endless Knot. These coins were issued during the period before Tibet was absorbed into China. These earrings come with laminated coin certificates of authenticity. Very attractive !

Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
