24” Navajo Pearl Sterling Silver Necklace by Danny Jackson

About the Item

Sterling silver single strand necklace with handmade Navajo Pearl beads in graduated sizes with a polished finish. Necklace length: 24” Bead diameters: 3/8” – 1/2" Hallmark: J Navajo Pearls is a term given to the unique craftsmanship of Native American handmade beads. Each bead is individually stamped, domed, and strung. Showcased within each Pearl lies the tradition, skill and artistic mastery of the Navajo silversmith. About the artist Danny Jackson is a Navajo silversmith from Chinle, Arizona. He comes from a long line of silversmiths, dating back to the 1800’s. His brothers, Tommy and Gene Jackson, are well-known silversmiths whose jewelry are featured at the store. As a child Danny worked with his family to help perfect the pieces, and from the age of six he was already making plain silver rings and some with bezels and stones. He started working on his own in 1994, and has been at it ever since. He usually works in what is known as the ‘shadowbox’ style, and often creates pendants in a turtle design. “Desert turtles are known for good luck and long life - this is a universal belief in all tribal cultures - and they’re rare to see,” he says. He also currently makes gradient sterling bead necklaces, in addition to rings and earrings. “There’s a feeling of gratification knowing you’ve created a piece that wasn’t there before,” Danny explains.
