Edwardian Diamond and Pearl Necklace
About the Item
An Edwardian diamond and pearl necklace, of a natural round half pearl, measuring approximately 8.3 mm of diameter, to the centre of an old brilliant-cut diamond-set cluster all to an old brilliant-cut diamond-set scroll and bow openwork designed frame with natural pear shaped pearl drop, measuring approximately 7.7 x 6.7 mm, Gem&Pearl laboratory certificate, the diamonds estimated a total of 5 1/2 carats, on chain, circa 1910, gross weight 22.54 grams.
An alluring early twentieth century piece. This gorgeous necklace features a delicate and detailed openwork design set throughout with glittering diamonds. Edwardian jewellery is characterised by the delicate use of platinum, diamonds and pearls, and garland and bow motifs. This necklace prominently features all these elements, which elegantly combine to create a feminine and romantic piece. The central feature of this necklace is a wonderful half-pearl surrounded by diamonds, and a further pear-shaped pearl drop. This gorgeous necklace comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and would be a remarkable ‘something old’ in a Bridal ensemble.
