Egyptian Revival Carved Citrine Pharaoh Drop Necklace

About the Item

During the 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and brought on what is referred to as "archaeological revival jewelry," or "Egyptian revival jewelry." The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820s and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs, and hieroglyphics. A fantastic and very unusual citrine necklace from the (ca1920) era! This beautiful Egyptian Revival piece is comprised of a single large sized teardrop citrine that hangs from a 14kt yellow gold chain. The citrine teardrop has a faceted back that catches the light when worn. The surface features a hand carved portrait of an Egyptian pharaoh. The citrine stone attaches to an ornate gold bail that hangs from a chain that is detailed with 6 faceted citrine beads. All of the citrine stones are a deep amber color which looks beautiful with the14kt yellow gold. The clasp on the chain is marked "14K". It's a fabulous piece and a must have for the Egyptian Revival collector! The chain of the necklace is 16.5" long. The large carved citrine pendant is approximately 1 1/2" long, 1" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/2". Each faceted citrine bead has an approximate diameter of 6.25mm.
