About the Item

Created as a one of a kind necklace in the late 1970's, this is part of the Nautilus series that Robert Lee Morris designed and made by hand in Soho NYC. Using two elongated hollow tapered tubes as the body, and a graduating series of half domes culminating into a a pointed hollow arrowhead shape, the Nautilus series is identified by the use of graduating half domes that culminate into a front of necklace form, either a ball, or an angular wedding of two tubes that are joined at an angle. Dramatic architecture for a piece of jewelry! Only about 23" long, but fitting higher on the neck due to the dramatic hard lines of the tubing. Morris is known for very soft and organic shapes, and this is a blend of both hard and soft in his quest for "Liquid Geometry"
