Ancient Greek 4th Century BC Gemini Stater Silver 18K Gold Pendant With Chain
About the Item
A authentic silver "stater" coin from the Greek colony of Istros in ancient Thrace (now near the mouth of the Danube at the Black Sea) minted from 400-350 BC, depicts the twin heads of the heroes Castor and Pollux, who were revered in ancient Greek mythology as protectors of sailors and travelers. Also known as the Dioscuri, they were often associated with the constellation Gemini, which represented their twin status. The opposite side of the coin displays a sea eagle grasping a dolphin. This coin is set in a Steven Battelle designed oxidized silver and 18K gold double layer line texture bezel with matching bali. The matching oxidized silver/18K gold handmade hammered chain shown is included. You can choose an 18, 20 or 24 inch length. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity.
