9ct Rose Gold Back & Front
Circa 1900
*The term gold front & back is often used to describe antique gold lockets which have a front back made from gold.
The gold front and back are applied to a base metal frame or sometimes sterling silver.
The supporting frame of the locket and hinge are base metal.
Gorgeous, Edwardian heart shaped locket. Beautifully decorated with a pretty swallow & flower with a zig zag patterned border.
Swallows were a very romantic symbol in Victorian jewellery & represented loyalty, love, and peace.
Locket measures approx height 25.8mm & width 21.7mm
