Antique Amethyst Intaglio Fob Seal Pendant with Ornate Floral Design
About the Item
A lovely, feminine ornately decorated antique watch fob with intaglio - this is a petite, yet not tiny size that would be really beautiful worn on a chain as a pendant.
Made of gold filled, the fob has a wonderful floral - foliate design with a carved amethyst base.
Measuring approximately 1 inch high, the fob holds a rectangular/cushion shaped amethyst with prettily faceted edges. (Approximately 13 x 10.5mm)
Roses and other flowers decorate the fob along the base and on the bail, while scrolling leaves suspend the bail from the ribbed back of the stone's mounting.
I've tested to confirm the amethyst is genuine and not just glass, though it is likely foil backed within its closed setting. I think the monogram reads "EJ CR" but am not positive, as the letters are ornate and intertwining. The amethyst has a pale lilac-pink color and some wear to the surface, seen primarily with magnification, rather than with the naked eye.
A few places show wear to the gold filled, but I would say that overall, the fob is in good antique condition and presents really well. On my scale, it has a nice weight of 8.38 grams.
