About the Item
This is really special very large 18-19kt gold Medusa face pendant with faint green overtones. It has a matte finish with lightly polished highlights. There is a halo of six rubies and four diamonds. The diamonds are of substantial size and bright and sparkling. The rubies are of equal size and very rich color.
The piece is an artist, slightly abstract rendition of the deity Medusa. Her face is serene with a hint of malevolence and glittering diamond eyes. Her hair a mass serpents with one snaking around her neck and terminating with a ruby in its mouth.
Medusa is an ancient talisman greatly favored by the Greeks and especially the ancient Romans. She was believed to ward off evil according to mythology..
This is a handcrafted piece which is very likely a one off commission. I cannot find a maker’s mark nor a hallmark.
It’s really an impressive and eye catching piece.
One that is certain to illicit comments.
This item has a substantial amount of 18-19 kt gold. It’s presented on a black leather cord with a black titanium clasp. I’ll include gratis but should you wish something different I’ll be happy to suggest other options at additional cost.
