YAACOV AGAM 1970 Paris Kinetic Op-Art Sculptural Circles Necklace In 18Kt Gold
By Yaacov Agam
Located in Miami, FL
Kinetic Op-Art necklace designed by Yaacov Agam (1928-). This is a gorgeous piece of wearable art, created in Paris France by the French Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, back in the 1970. The kinetic Op-Art necklace was masterfully crafted in rich yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The design consists of five (5) independent round wires pendants, separate and graduated making concentric circles motifs in three dimensions. These circles are fitted with concealed hinges locks, which can be removed to convert the necklace with different patterns. The visual artistic aspect is achieved since the hanging circles slightly oscillate with the movement of the wearer, creating in turn the three-dimensional optical effect. This sculptural necklace was produced in a limited series of only nine pieces, making each piece to be unique. Country: Paris, France Period: Modernism, 1970. Edition: Number 5 of 9. Weight: 41.8 Grams, (26.80 Dwt). Size: Fit a neck up to 16 Inches, (40.64 Cm). Measurements: The dangle kinetic section is 89 mm by 42 mm (3.5 x 1.65 Inches) Hallmarks: Each piece is stamped with French national marks; the maker's mark Ste F-F with a clover, the mark of the eagle for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold, the edition number out of 9 and signed as follows, "AGAM 5/9". Yaacov Agam He is a renowned sculptor. He was born in Mandate Palestine, and lived there until 1949, the year after the establishment of the State of Israel. While living in Mandate Palestine, Agam studied in Jerusalem at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Following his 1949 move to Switzerland, he studied at Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule and the Zurich University. He moved to Paris in 1951. Agam is considered one of the founders of kinetic art. Kinetic artwork typically contains moving elements and rely on motion provided by natural forces, motors, or human intervention to achieve their visual effects. In a twist on the classic model of kinetic art, Agam's sculpture Peaceful Communication with the World is painted in such a way that children's growth will change how the work appears to them as they get taller. In a more traditional vein, his Fire and Water Fountain uses mechanically driven parts to help achieve the visual effects. Agam works almost entirely in sculpture, with many of the sculptures on a massive scale. One of his more famous pieces called Hanukkah Menorah is in New York City, stands 32 feet high, and can function as a menorah. His sculptures appear in numerous cities around the world, including Jerusalem, Paris, Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, and the Bahamas. He has held exhibitions and retrospectives at both museums and galleries. His work has been shown in retrospectives at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Musee National d'art Moderne in Paris, and the Tel Aviv Museum. His solo exhibitions have appeared at Marlborough-Gerson Gallery in New York, the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico, and the Jewish Museum in New York. In addition to artistic work, Agam routinely involves himself in art education, with lectures delivered at universities and conventions. In 1968, he served as a guest lecturer at Harvard University, where he taught a course on visual communication. Some of his educational ideas for enhancing the cognitive and creative skills of children have been implemented in Israel. The artist currently lives and works in Paris and Tel Aviv. Paul Oudet 1970 Prototype Gingko Cuff Necklace in 18kt Gilt Vermeil over Silver

This organic piece has been crafted as an unique piece in solid .800/.999 silver with gold gilt vermeil. The design consist of 2 gingko leaves attached to the ends of a curved free form element. This model probably created for the Galerie Claude de Muzac between 1968 and 1974. This prototype piece is unusually crafted in gilt silver instead gild bronze that is the traditional metal used by the artist in his career. Weight: 128.85 Grams, (82.59 Dwt). Size: It is expandable, is sizeable and the actual size fit a neck up to 17 inches (43.20 Cm). Measurements: The gingko leaves are 56 mm by 42 mm (2.20 x 1.65 Inches). Hallmarks Stamped with French marks; the maker's mark P.O. inside a lozange cartouche associated to Paul Oudet, the mark of the crab for the 80% assay of the silver and signed, "PAUL OUDET". Paul Oudet, is a Postwar & Contemporary French artist and sculptor. He created rare jewelry and objects for the Galerie Grotte of Claude de Muzac in Paris, circa 1970. After having brilliantly passed the Applied Arts and the Fine Arts, Paul Oudet at 25 is a young professor at the Fine Arts, architecture section. But perhaps because he is the son of a naval officer, or because he grew up facing the Louvre Museum, where he spent long hours in the countless galleries, he sets off to discover the distant lands of Asia and Central America. He returned to France at the end of the sixties. He works and uses his know-how and his long observations to develop a singular work around marine architecture and plant structures. Albert Loeb discovered him and presented his work in Paris from 1972. Throughout this decade and the next he continued his collaboration with his gallery owner and multiplied his experiences. He participates in the adventure of the gallery of the Carita sisters, rue Saint Honoré. He is also exhibited at the Jean-Pierre Hagenauer gallery, at Artcurial and his creations are also sold at Henri Bendel in New York. Then, it is the eye of the Princess de Broglie, Claude de Muzac, who captures the grace of her objects and shows them in her turn in her gallery, an institution of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It will then be Naïla de Montbrison. (La Galerie Parisienne...

Dalhoff's workshops. He also attended the Royal Danish Academy of Arts where he was influenced by Gustav Friedrich Hersch. In 1836, he went on a long journey abroad, working in some of the leading goldsmiths in Germany and Paris. He established his own goldsmith in Gothersgade, Copenhagen when he returned to Denmark in 1841. He immediately won the attention of the royal family and the king Christian VIII charged him with executing all Danish orders with title of royal court and order jeweler. Michelsen was the only Danish goldsmith who was represented at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1855. The company of A. Michelsen, was a leading Danish jeweler founded in 1841 by Anton Michelsen in Copenhagen. It was responsible for executing all Danish royal orders and was absorbed by the Georg Jensen company in 1985. Eigil Jensen Eigil Jensen was born in the Danish town of Aalborg in 1917. He liked drawing and was originally drawn towards graphic design, but was unable to find an apprenticeship. Instead, a goldsmith in Aalborg was looking for an apprentice who could draw. He soon showed an aptitude for his work and finished his apprenticeship in 1938. Jensen then sought new challenges and was employed by Hans Hansen in Kolding, Hans Hansen silversmith had an international reputation by this time. After five years at Hans Hansen Jensen sent his CV to A. Michelsen in Copenhagen, where he worked for the next forty years until his retirement in 1985. After just four years he became the foreman for the goldsmith workshop, he simultaneously studied and became a qualified gemologist and diamond expert. At Michelsen Eigil Jensen fulfilled many different design assignments, including jewelry, Christmas spoons, and hollowware. He also executed many commission orders; mayoral chains, church silver and silverware for Crown Prince Margrethe and Prince Henrik's as well as Princess Benedikte and Prince Richard...

VITO CAMPANELLA 1970 Surrealist Pendant Brooch In 18Kt Yellow Gold With Gems
Located in Miami, FL
Pendant brooch designed by Vito Campanella (1932-2014). Very rare pendant brooch, created by the surrealist artist, sculptor, and goldsmith Vito Campanella, back in the late 1970's. This piece of art was crafted in Buenos Aires Argentina in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with brushed and polished finishes. The artistic brooch was made up in three dimensions with three women's profiles with surrealist patterns and is part of the collection named "Mujer.... Mujeres". It is embellished with eighteen earth mined natural gemstones such: diamonds and one emerald. The piece is fitted at the reverse with a ring to wear as a necklace in a chain and a hinged pin bar with a mechanical lock to wear as a brooch. Vito Campanella Vito Campanella was an Argentine painter of Italian origin born in Monopoli, Bari on October 17, 1932. Before establishing himself in Buenos Aires in 1955, Campanella studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Brera in Milan and in cultural centers of important European artists. Campanella has had numerous solo and group exhibitions. At the age of 16, the young Campanella was selected to create a mural in the church of his hometown and shortly after he won the “Pintura delle Regione” prize in Naples. In 1952, at just 20 years old, he was invited to exhibit at the Annual Salon of Bari, then traveling to the beautiful city of Florence, where he participated in various cultural activities and began to travel his aesthetic path through abstract art, pop art and geometry, until he found his definitive style, surrealism. Later, thanks to the sculptor G. Rossi, there was a meeting with the person who finally defined his painting: the teacher Giorgio De Chirico, founder of the Scuola Metafisica movement, architect of Campanella's relationship with this philosophical current. In Rome, he met Salvador Dalí, who became an important reference for Campanella within surrealism. For a period, he lived in Milan, and took anatomy classes at the School of Fine Arts of the renowned Brera Academy, acquiring knowledge of harmony and proportion of the human body that would later be widely reflected in his work. There he began to become interested in the Latin American and Argentine painting movements of the 1950s and decided to reunite with his family, already settled in Argentina, without leaving aside his ties with Europe. Thus, he participated in the Metamorphosis Salon of the Grand Palais de Champs-Élysées and the Salon d'Autumne Vallambreuse, both in Paris. His Surrealist jewels have corroborated his gift as skilled goldsmith. Diamonds: Mount in a pave setting, with 17 round brilliant cut diamonds, with estimate of about 0.68 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity. Emerald: Mount in a bezel setting, with 1 round faceted cut of a natural Colombian green emerald of about 0.12 Carats. Birthstone: Emerald for the month of May. Weight: 46.20 Grams, (29.65 Dwt). Tittle: "Mujer... Mujeres". Measurements: 68 mm by 42 mm by 10 mm (2.68 x 1.65 x 0.40 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed, "V. CAMPANELLA 18KT". Collections: Athens Museum of Fine Arts Greece, The Uffizi Gallery of Florence Italy, Tel Aviv Museum of Modern Art Israel...

Modernist Georg Jensen Astrid Fog Large Sterling Silver Cross Bars Necklace
Located in New York, NY
Scarce large 1970's Scandinavian Modernist sterling silver cross bars necklace by Astrid Fog for Georg Jensen. Astrid Fog (1911-1993) designed her first jewelry collection for Georg Jensen in 1969. Her jewelry designs are distinctive for their large scale and bold, modernist style using classic geometric forms such as rectangles, circles and squares. She successfully utilized high quality lightweight, hollow silver forms to create pieces which were striking as well as comfortable to wear. This beautiful necklace is from the estate of a noted New York City psychiatrist who collected interesting, unusual, often one-of-a-kind jewelry. The pendant measures 2.19 inches by 2.19 inches. The chain is 29 inches long. Marks: 379 925 S Denmark Georg Jensen...
