Boucheron Antique Miniature Oil Painting Set in a Silver Desk Frame Paris c 1870

About the Item

Frederic Boucheron small ornate frame holding a fine miniature oil painting. Probably designed by Jules Debut, a major designer for Boucheron in the late 19th century. 1988. He designs of picture frames imitated wrought iron work with carved floral elements. (See p. 38 ,Gilles Neret Boucheron Four Generations of a World Renowned Jeweler. Published by Rizzoli New York). Beauty like opportunity is where you find it. Here is a "minor miracle" done in the form of a petite oil painting arranged by the great Frederic Boucheron, the founder of his namesake company. Doubtlessly involving one of his prominent customers in a hand made miniature and exquisite vermeil frame with the easel stand in back of the picture consisting of monogram (of the client) portrayed cunningly in a vegetative motif. What formality, artistry and precious materials have been lavished on this petite "amuse des oeux". What planning had to be expended to surprise wonderfully this special client. This marvel is 2 1/4th inches high and 2 1/8th inches wide. The piece is signed on the verso by F (ic) Boucheron, Paris, and by Artique on the oil painting. Though small in stature like all successful precious works, this piece has an inimitable monumentality. This small "objets" in such fine condition is quite rare. The verso shows slight tarnish to the gold wash. All items sold are accompanied by a detailed appraisal by our gemologist, as well as all original GIA certificates, if specified in listing. As always, we guarantee all of pieces. Each piece of jewelry arrives in a finely gift-wrapped presentation box.

  • Antique Italian Pink Coral and Sterling Silver Letter Opener
    Located in Roma, IT
This silver and antique coral letter opener was handmade by our talented goldsmiths, who used a coral branch from Sciacca, the Sicilian town famous for its corals. The Sciacca Coral has unique origins in the world: it is closely tied to the exceptional history of the Ferdinandea Island, which is a submerged volcanic island in the Strait of Sicily, between Pantelleria and Sciacca. As of today the summit of the Ferdinandea Island remains between about 6 and 8 meters below the Mediterranean Sea level. Its most recent appearance as an island was in July 1831. In the late 1831, in a shoal (called later ”Bummolo” by the fishermen of Sciacca) located around 30 miles from Sciacca, a new island emerged in a fiery hell from the depths of the Strait of Sicily. However, one year later, the island sank back beneath the waters and definitely disappeared in the Strait of Sicily. Over time, thanks to the exceptional microclimate determined by the frequent volcanic phenomena along the slopes of the submerged volcano, huge coral...
