About the Item

Fabergé Autumn Egg, 18k Yellow Gold, Aubergine-Red Enamel, Diamonds 3.34 ct G VS, Obsidian, Agate, Ruby, Amethyst, Coral, Onyx This Fabergé egg, created in 1998 as part of the “Four Seasons” series inspired by Antonio Vivaldi’s violin concertos, represents the season of autumn. The egg contains a music box that plays the “Autumn” concerto, while a richly jewelled basket of flowers revolves gracefully on top of the egg. The lower half of the egg is covered with translucent aubergine-red enamel on a guilloché ground. At its centre, a delicate floral motif has been hand-engraved beneath the enamel, layered over the guilloché pattern, creating a striking depth effect. The pedestal is carved from obsidian and agate, with a ruby-red accent in the centre carved from natural ruby. The floral arrangement is composed with great refinement: coral roses, blackberries carved from amethyst, green leaves in translucent enamel, red berries in ruby and agate, and blossoms accented with brilliant-cut diamonds. Together they amount to a total of 3.34 carats of diamonds (G VS), adding sparkle and depth to the composition. The musical movement was crafted in Switzerland by Reusch and has been modified and refined by master watchmaker Paul Gerber. His intervention included the integration of a mechanism that allows the flower basket to rotate in time with the music, enhancing the sense of harmony between motion, sound, and ornament. About the Fabergé workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009) the renowned German jewellery firm VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewels and objects of art under worldwide exclusive licence. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewelry, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Fabergé’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufac-tory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewelry is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates
