About the Item

Fabergé "Chicken"-Egg Objet, White Gold, Medium Blue Enamel, Diamonds, Ruby, Tahiti Pearl This Fabergé egg, created in 2002, is a modern reminiscence of the very first Imperial Egg made by Carl Fabergé in 1885 for the Russian imperial family. Dedicated to Easter, it takes up the theme of new life and the eternal cycle of creation. Inside the egg sits a finely crafted gold hen with ruby eyes. The hen itself opens to reveal a small egg pendant, designed to be worn on a chain as a necklace. This pendant, in turn, opens once more to uncover four miniature gold rabbits. The playful sequence reflects the ancient causality dilemma: *Which came first, the chicken or the egg?* The exterior is finished in medium blue translucent enamel over a guilloché ground, richly set with brilliant-cut diamonds. A lustrous Tahiti pearl completes the composition. Reference: F2054/MB/28/06/104 Brand: Fabergé Workmaster: Victor Mayer Material: 750/- white gold (18k) Dimensions: Height approx. 14 cm Vitreous enamel: medium blue translucent, guilloché ground Diamonds: 1,582 brilliant cut diamonds total 8.705 ct Gemstones: ruby eyes of the hen, Tahiti pearl Limited edition: 6/12 (number actually made: 12) About the Fabergé workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009) the renowned German jewellery firm VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewels and objects of art under worldwide exclusive licence. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewelry, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Fabergé’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewelry is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates.
