About the Item

Fabergé "Meissen"-Egg Objet, 18k Yellow Gold, Enamel, Diamonds 3.46ct G VS, Porcelain Foot, Mechanical Music Box by Reusch and Paul Gerber This Fabergé egg commemorates Carl-Peter Fabergé’s sojourn in Dresden in 1860/61 and the artistic influences he absorbed at the Green Vault. The foot is crafted of hand-painted porcelain by the State Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, designed expressly for this piece. The upper half of the egg in gold and enamel contains a miniature garden with a diamond-set well house and trees of nephrite and pearls. A dedicated Swiss music box movement by Reusch plays a minuet by Luigi Boccherini, while the well house and trees move in contrapuntal motion. The transformation of the music box movement into the motion of the well is achieved by a special mechanism with an additional spring, developed by the Swiss master watchmaker Paul Gerber. 18kt Yellow Gold, foot of hand-painted Meissen porcelain, translucent enamel on guilloché ground, drop pearls, diamonds (total 3.46ct G VS). Miniature garden with diamond-set well house, trees of nephrite and pearls. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewelry, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Fabergé’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewelry is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates.
