About the Item

Fabergé Polar Bear-Egg Object, 18k White Gold, Turquoise Guilloché Vitreous Enamel, Diamonds 0.17 ct G VS, White Topaz, Sardonyx, Rock Crystal The Polar Bear Egg, created in 2003, captures the brilliance and clarity of the Arctic winter. The egg is made of 18k white gold and covered with multiple layers of turquoise translucent vitreous enamel on a guilloché ground, producing a luminous icy shimmer. It is crowned with a prominent conical white topaz and decorated with numerous stylised ice-crystal motifs in white gold. The opener, also shaped as an ice crystal, is set with brilliant-cut diamonds. When opened, the egg reveals a miniature scene of a mother polar bear with two cubs, modelled in 18k white gold, resting on an ice floe carved from sardonyx with its natural frosted surface resembling snow. The pedestal is made of frosted rock crystal cut with angular facets to evoke a glacier. It rests on a circular base of polished rock crystal, mounted with white-gold feet that provide stability and refinement. Background: Fabergé’s animal figures were coveted collector’s items. The source of inspiration for the Polar Bear Egg was a famous figure by Peter Carl Fabergé: a polar bear carved from aventurine quartz. Here, the cold hues of turquoise enamel, white topaz, and rock crystal perfectly evoke the atmosphere of ice and winter light. About the Fabergé workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009) the renowned German jewellery firm VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewels and objects of art under worldwide exclusive licence. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewellery, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Fabergé’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewellery is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates.

Fabergé Style Bejewelled and Enamelled Gold Egg by Asprey
By Asprey International Limited, Garrard & Co. Ltd.
Located in London, GB
This exceptional, 18 carat gold Easter egg was crafted by the famous London-based royal jewellers, Asprey & Co. The piece was then retailed by Garrard & Co, who once worked in collaboration with Asprey, producing luxury jewellery and silver for an elite clientele. The egg has been crafted from gold filigree — that is, gold wires interwoven to make a delicate lace-like pattern. The gold is arranged to form the image of a peacock, with a magnificent fanned train, composed of red, dark blue and green coloured plique-à-jour enamel. The light blue body of the peacock, and its long swirling light and dark blue tail feathers, have been crafted from intricate guilloché enamel, which is often found on Fabergé style eggs...
