About the Item

Fabergé Rose-Egg Object, 18k Yellow Gold, Aubergine Red Guilloche Vitreous Enamel, 51 Diamonds 4.36 ct G VS, Garnet, Pink Tourmalines The Rose-Egg Object, created in 2002, is one of the most poetic Faberge designs of the late 20th century. The egg itself is crafted from 18k yellow gold and layered with deep aubergine red translucent vitreous enamel over a guilloche ground, producing a vivid play of colour and light. Its surface is decorated with a fine lattice of gold wire, each intersection set with a brilliant-cut diamond. At the top of the egg sits a polished cabochon garnet mounted in gold and accented with diamonds. The front of the egg features an oval garnet framed by diamonds, which serves as the clasp. The overall impression is one of opulence and precision, with the red enamel shimmering beneath the diamond-studded golden netting. The egg opens at the diamond-set garnet clasp to reveal a basket of roses. The roses are embedded in a hand-plaited gold basket. Each rosebud is meticulously carved from pink tourmalines, while the leaves, fashioned from 18k gold, are decorated with fine layers of translucent enamel. Reference: F2464/AR/00/12/102 Brand: Faberge Workmaster: Victor Mayer Material: 750/- yellow gold (18k) Dimensions: Height 11 cm Vitreous enamel: translucent aubergine red, guilloche ground Diamonds: 51 brilliant cut diamonds total 4.36 ct, G VS Gemstones: 6 x 4 mm red garnet cabochon (button), oval garnet clasp, pink tourmalines (rosebuds) Limited edition: 12/12 Background: The rose has always captured the imagination and will forever be an inspiration, as expressed with the famous lines by the poet Gertrude Stein: "A rose is a rose is a rose." This Faberge creation represents an exquisite, eternal epitome of this quotation. Source: Anne-Barbara Kern, Faberge Eggs by Victor Mayer (Stuttgart: Arnoldsche, 2009), p. 115. About the Faberge workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009) the renowned German jewellery firm VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Faberge jewels and objects of art under worldwide exclusive licence. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Faberge workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewellery, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Faberge’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The luminous colours are created in the fire: layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired at 800 C. During guilloching, fine wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating depth. Vitreous means made of glass: the technique is rare today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewellery is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Faberge box and certificate.
