About the Item

Fabergé Serpent-Egg Object, 18k Yellow Gold, Translucent Pink Guilloché Vitreous Enamel, Diamonds 0.36 ct, Emeralds This Fabergé egg, created in 1991, is a tribute to Fabergé’s historic designs featuring serpents, such as his celebrated cigarette cases. The egg is decorated in translucent pink enamel over a guilloché ground, enriched with diamonds and emeralds. The egg bears four Crosses of St. Andrew on its underside. The Cross of St. Andrew holds particular importance, as St. Andrew is considered the patron saint of Russia and the apostle who first preached Christianity there. In Russian symbolism, the Cross of St. Andrew is also tied to the naval ensign of Imperial Russia, underscoring its national and spiritual significance. The crosses on this egg are crafted in white gold and set with brilliant-cut diamonds, adding symbolic and religious depth to the design. The egg can be opened. Inside is a golden platform. The upper interior is lined with silk and bears an imprint of the Russian double-headed eagle, the imperial symbol of Russia, emphasising the historical and cultural heritage to which this piece pays tribute. On request, customers may order a bespoke miniature figurine to be placed inside the egg. This figurine can be crafted from any gemstone and designed to represent any figure the customer wishes. The engraving is executed in Germany to the highest standards of precision and artistry. This special addition is available with a surcharge upon request. About the Fabergé workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009) the renowned German jewellery firm VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewels and objects of art under worldwide exclusive licence. As such, VICTOR MAYER continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, and while it no longer holds a worldwide exclusive license in respect of jewellery, VICTOR MAYER remains one of Fabergé’s valued and trusted suppliers of certain jewels. About vitreous enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. Availability: This piece of jewellery is in our stock and can be shipped immediately. The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates.

This exceptional, 18 carat gold Easter egg was crafted by the famous London-based royal jewellers, Asprey & Co. The piece was then retailed by Garrard & Co, who once worked in collaboration with Asprey, producing luxury jewellery and silver for an elite clientele. The egg has been crafted from gold filigree — that is, gold wires interwoven to make a delicate lace-like pattern. The gold is arranged to form the image of a peacock, with a magnificent fanned train, composed of red, dark blue and green coloured plique-à-jour enamel. The light blue body of the peacock, and its long swirling light and dark blue tail feathers, have been crafted from intricate guilloché enamel, which is often found on Fabergé style eggs...
