THIS IS A SUPERB SIGNED FRANZ BERGMANN ANTIQUE AUSTRIAN VIENNA BRONZE OF A STANDING DACHSHUND DOG. The Bergmann Dachshund is one of the finest cold painted Austrian Bronzes you will find by the most esteemed artist of the genre. The dachshund is a wonderful large size: 3 3/4 inches tall and 5 7/8 inches long and 1 1/2 inches deep. The superb quality of the bronze is evidenced by the triple markings of the piece. It is signed on the base with the Bergmann B in the urn as well as with "Geschutzt", the German mark for export, and the bronze is numbered 8884. Collectors of Vienna Bronzes and animal sculptures treasure pieces made by the master artisan Franz Bergmann above all others. Bergmann's creations are unparalleled in their realistic lifelike modeling, their refined elegant poses, their exquisite painted details and the inherent charm of the finished figure. This wonderful antique Austrian Vienna Bronze (Bronze de Vienne, Wiener Bronze, Cold Painted Bronze) dates to circa 1900-1920. The bronze is of the highest quality of Vienna Bronzes with absolutely superb modeling and expression. The painting of the dachshund is elegant and refined.
