About the Item

Fabergé Lion Egg, objet d'art / objet de vertu, workmaster Victor Mayer, 18-carat yellow gold, 16 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.198ct G VS, translucent purple guilloché enamel, Kalahari jasper, limited edition, number 2 of 75. This Fabergé egg pays homage to the King of Beasts, the traditional heraldic animal of the great European dynasties. It is decorated with the imperial crown at the top and the opening button is in the shape of a royal heraldic lily set with diamonds. The enamel is a rich purple red and the base is inlaid with marbled Kalahari jasper. Inside is a miniature family of lions with a playing cub in 18-carat gold and vitrous enamel. The object was produced around 2006. It was designed in a limited edition of 75 pieces, of which 30 were produced. This piece is number 2 and a whole range of rare handcraft techniques were used in its creation. Many of these techniques are practically no longer used today because there is no expert to speak of. In the German workshops of Victor Mayer, these crafts are still practised today and passed down from generation to generation. Reference: F2666/P4/78/01/104 Brand: Fabergé Workmaster: Victor Mayer Material: 750/- yellow gold (18k) Gemstones: Kalahari jasper Dimensions: 14 cm Vitreous enamel: translucent purple Guilloche: wave pattern Diamonds: 16 brilliant cut diamonds totalling 0.198ct, G VS Limited edition: 2/75 About workmaster Victor Mayer For two decades (1989 to 2009), the renowned German jewellery house Victor Mayer was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewellery and objets d'art under an exclusive worldwide licence. As such, Victor Mayer continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, Victor Mayer remains one of Fabergé's most valued and trusted suppliers of enamelled jewellery and objects of art. About vitreous enamel: The inimitable vibrant colours are literally created 'in the fire': layer by layer, the enamel is carefully fired at 800 degrees Celsius. Vitreous means made of glass: this ancient technique is almost forgotten today, and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufacturer to master it at the highest level. Abouit guilloché engraving: Guilloching is the process of engraving the finest wave patterns into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Condition The object was inspected and refurbished in the Victor Mayer workshops in Pforzheim, Germany. It is in excellent and mint condition. Availability: This item is currently available for purchase and can be dispatched without delay. Certificate and packaging: The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates attesting to its provenance.

Fabergé Style Bejewelled and Enamelled Gold Egg by Asprey
By Asprey International Limited, Garrard & Co. Ltd.
Located in London, GB
This exceptional, 18 carat gold Easter egg was crafted by the famous London-based royal jewellers, Asprey & Co. The piece was then retailed by Garrard & Co, who once worked in collaboration with Asprey, producing luxury jewellery and silver for an elite clientele. The egg has been crafted from gold filigree — that is, gold wires interwoven to make a delicate lace-like pattern. The gold is arranged to form the image of a peacock, with a magnificent fanned train, composed of red, dark blue and green coloured plique-à-jour enamel. The light blue body of the peacock, and its long swirling light and dark blue tail feathers, have been crafted from intricate guilloché enamel, which is often found on Fabergé style eggs...
