There are four layers of iron here forged together with focus on the central flower. What tool existed to twist this fine iron and how was it created in such fine sprays? When the German treasury was becoming depleted due to the war with Napoleon, the government addressed the aristocrats asking them to contribute their gold for the continuing battle. Georgian Petite 18k Chalcedony Urn Fob/Charm with Enamel
Located in Narberth, PA
A charming fob/charm from the Georgian era (ca1810) with a lovely Urn motif! Crafted in bright 18k gold, the fob is petite and beautifully decorated with white and royal blue glittering enamel. Bezel-set at the base is an oval-shaped orange piece of chalcedony engraved with the initials "ML" in the script. The petite fob hangs from a bail that is set with four petite rose-cut diamonds. The enamel work is accented with draped floral sprays throughout the body of the urn. The bail of the urn can be unscrewed from the charm to reveal a hollow interior. A lovely antique piece, it is perfect for a Georgian-obsessed collector! Measurements: The fob measures 1 1/4" tall, including the bail. The stone at the base is 3/8" in diameter. Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent, considering its age. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The enamel shows minor areas of wear and is exceptionally well-kept for the piece's age. The quartz fob...
