About the Item
This ring by architect-designer Michel Tortel for QITTERI explores and reveals the soul of precious stones, here a flaming hessonite garnet set against an aquamarine in an innovative and graceful design.
The 5.90 carat Hessonite garnet, whose colour and changing lights evoke an incandescent flame, has a purity of VS+ which is rare for this type of garnet. It comes from a deposit on the island of Ceylon. Its perfect oval size is 12.25 x 10.9 x 7.0 mm. It is accompanied by a natural aquamarine of 0.84 carats of emerald size 11.1 x 3.1 x 2.4 mm of VVS clarity.
Set in 7.13 grams of 18-carat white rhodium-plated gold, the design was conceived to vibrate and circulate light and colour.
Its design explores the asymmetrical dialogue and luminous harmonies between exceptional oval-cut stones such as this fire garnet and clear, full-length gems such as aquamarine, which innovatively replace the diamond.
A simple, elegant and timeless writing that lets the two gems appear as if floating above the fingers.
In this reinvention of a "classic" ring, each stone is worn with the minimum of material in the purest of simplicity by two independent cradles extending directly from the ring, allowing the stones to be seen from all sides and thus revealing their play of colours.
This model, like its main stone, is unique. It can be adjusted for sizes not too far from 54 which is its current size.
