Ancient Greek 5th Century BC Silver Bull Coin 18K Gold Mens Ring
About the Item
An authentic, ancient Greek silver "Triobol" coin from the Phocian League 480 - 421 BC, features the head of a bull on one side and the goddess Artemis on the other. The Phocian League was a federal union of several city-states located in central Greece, including Delphi, the home of the famous oracle. Bulls were often associated with strength, power, and fertility in ancient Greek culture, as well as being associated with Zeus, the king of the Greek gods. In minting this coin, the Phocians may have been expressing their connection to Zeus and seeking his favor. Artemis was the virgin goddess of the hunt and of wild things, who was worshipped throughout Greece. This coin is set in a Steven Battelle designed handmade double line texture mount atop a substantial hammered and tapered matte-finish 18K gold shank. It is currently sized 11. Resizable by your local jeweler. It is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. Classic!

Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
