About the Item

A stunning vintage platinum engagement ring featuring an emerald cut diamond, flanked with trapeze cut and bullet cut diamonds. The striking 6.28-carat emerald cut diamond is set in a four double-prong claw setting, highlighting its clean lines and step-cut facets. On each side is arranged a pair of trapeze and bullet cut diamonds. The trapeze cuts sit closest to the center stone, their angled edges complementing the emerald cut's rectangular shape. The tapered bullet cuts complete the design with a streamlined, pointy look. The ring has a strong, important presence. Yet its clean lines and balanced design keep it tasteful and chic. This emerald cut diamond engagement ring conveys importance without crossing into excess. It’s a perfect choice for someone who wants a ring that makes a statement while keeping things effortlessly chic. The ring is made of platinum. The center emerald cut diamond weighs 6.28 carats and is of M-N color and VS2 clarity. The four side diamonds weigh approximately 1.04 carat in total and are of I-J color and VS clarity. This vintage engagement ring weighs 7.2 grams and is size 6.25 (resizable). The ring is stamped with hallmark for platinum. The Meaning of Engagement Rings: Engagement rings have a rich history, with their meaning evolving over the centuries. The tradition is often traced to the ancient Romans, who believed that a vein ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand to the heart, symbolizing love and commitment. However, the modern concept of engagement rings began in 1477 when Archduke Maximilian of Austria presented a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy. That how a precedent for using gemstones to signify a betrothal was set. This gesture transformed the engagement ring into a symbol of love, fidelity, and promise, gaining popularity across Europe and eventually around the world. The Evolution of Engagement Ring Design: The design of engagement rings has undergone numerous transformations over time. In the Victorian era, engagement rings often featured intricate settings with a combination of diamonds, colored gemstones, and detailed engravings, inspired by romantic motifs like flowers and hearts. The Art Deco period brought a shift towards geometric shapes, bold lines, and the use of platinum, reflecting the modernist spirit of the 1920s and 1930s. The mid-20th century saw the rise of the classic solitaire diamond ring, popularized by De Beers’ iconic “A Diamond Is Forever” campaign. Since then, engagement rings have continued to evolve, embracing a variety of styles from vintage-inspired designs to sleek, minimalist aesthetics. About Platinum Jewelry: Platinum stands apart from other precious metals due to its defining qualities of purity and durability. From the chemical perspective, platinum is one of the most stable elements. The white color of platinum comes from its purity. While white gold contains an alloy of zinc, copper and nickel, platinum has a pure 95-98% composition. In fact, white gold is yellow gold mixed with other metals and then rhodium plated. Platinum is durable and more dense than yellow gold. Platinum jewelry lasts for ages and can be passed down from generation to generation. Platinum’s purity and strength make it relevant to the idea of eternal love. It’s an embodiment of strong feelings and rarity. That’s why platinum engagement rings and platinum wedding bands have been popular ever since. Platinum is also a symbol of status and reputation. It looks subtle and not as obvious as yellow gold. Gemstones set in platinum are not distracted because of the metal’s neutral appearance. The color, brilliance and vibrancy of diamonds and colored stones are amplified next to platinum “true white”.
