About the Item

An elegant sterling silver comport designed by Johan Rohde (1856-1935) for Georg Jensen known as model #590. The hand hammered bowl is braced by delicate floral inspired elements, leading to a sphere contained in its centre. To the underside the piece is marked 'Dessin' (Design in Danish), 'Denmark', 'Sterling', '590', and hallmarks for Georg Jensen and Johan Rohde. The piece has hallmarks for manufacture by Georg Jensen post 1945, and we believe it to have been crafted in the 1960s or 1970s. Perhaps the most notable design Rohde created for Georg Jensen is the 'Acorn' pattern which is still in production today.
