Goodland Wood Burning Hot Tub '2-3 Person'
Located in Vancouver, B.C.
Wood fired bathing in a tub creates the most elemental and authentic outdoor bathing experience. If you’ve ever soaked in water heated only by wood, you’ll know it's much richer than just the bathing: it's the splitting and stacking of firewood, the methodical stirring and preparation of the water, the sound of the crackling fire, the anticipation of the heat. These moments of simple pleasure remind us that when life moves half as fast, we notice twice as much. Crafted in Canada, our Wood Burning Hot Tub is made from durable, 100% recyclable materials including marine grade aluminum and western red cedar...

Pediment Wood Carving
Located in Chicago, IL
This Teakwood pediment carving came from a Northern Thai house. Pediment carvings were part of the traditional architecture system and were found under overhanging roof gables. We know it was a residential roof (and not a temple's) because of the shallow angle. Temple roofs are much steeper and usually temple exteriors were painted, so some pigment would usually remain, particularly towards the top. Thai houses were made from solid teak --walls, roofs, floors; everything. They were always raised on stilts to remain above seasonal flooding, snakes and other forest creatures. The area below the house was used for animals and storage. The Thai architectural wall system (including pediments) always employed heavy beams and thin floating panels. Visually these wall panels are very attractive and richly textured on account of exposure to moisture. Teak is very resistant to moisture and insects, so the lifespan of teak exterior parts can be over 150 years. The antique pediment...

1960s Willy Guhl Concrete Chairs for Eternit
By Willy Guhl
Located in Surrey, BC
Very rare set of three cast, hollow concrete European ‘Pod’ chairs. Designed by important Swiss designer/cabinetmaker/teacher, Willy Guhl, and made for Eternit in the 1960s. The painted concrete chairs, with cut-out handles on each side for ease of movement, can be used indoors or outdoors. Willy Guhl (1915-2004) was one of the most influential industrial designers in Switzerland. He was trained as a cabinetmaker and by 1939, opened his own workshop. After the war, he designed the first plastic-shell chair in Europe, and in 1948, participated in New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) competition ‘Low-Cost Furniture Design’ (which launched the careers of Charles Eames and many others.) Guhl began designing cast concrete chairs...
