Chapel Petrassi is a contemporary design and manufacturing company based in Paris and Naples founded by designers Marie-Charlotte Bassi and Diego Petroso specialized in handcrafted furniture and custom projects for residential, commercial and galleries.
The duo met in Rome, Italy while studying, in Art and Literature for Marie-Charlotte and at Academy of Fine Arts for Diego. In 2011 after their studies, the duo travel to Europe for various projects and artistic residencies, including the American Academy in Rome in 2014. These experiences and the meetings generated aroused a curiosity and a great desire to undertake and build a project together. This common desire has naturally materialized in the design and production of contemporary furniture.
Chapel Petrassi is define by its fusion of craftsmanship and art fields with the high sense to detail. Its designs are the result of a permanent mix of different visual codes drawn from contemporary languages and youth culture.
Chapel Petrassi was finalist at AD Design Award in Berlin in 2016 and awarded at ICFF Studio 2019 in New York presenting its innovative designs and unique concepts, the emerging brand was established as a leading talent in the industry. Inspired by Doric columns in archaic architecture, the extruded multi-point star pedestals have a different finish on each vertical face: the cast metal is polished on one side but left raw on the other. The shading is amplified by the different finishes resulting in a dramatic effect. The pedestal(s) can be combined with tops in any kind of marble and with any shape or dimension. Crafted in Tuscany, Italy, in a foundry specialized in bronze sculptures, serving artists among the most renowned in the world.

Beautiful "Japonisme" writing table opening with a belt drawer with engraved decoration of bamboo and flowers and decorated with openwork leafy friezes in bronze, forming a writing tablet covered in velvet.
It rests on four feet mounted at the corners of lion masks in gilded bronze and joined by an openwork spacer, and ending in lion paws. It is topped with a molded Griotte marble.
Biography :
Gabriel Viardot (1830-1906) career began as a wood carver and he produced small furniture, sculpturally carved with naturalistic motifs and animals. In the 1855 Exposition Universelle in Paris, his finely sculpted objects were well received. However, with the increasing importation of similarly produced Swiss and German articles, he found less opportunity for these and decided to inovate. G. Viardot succeded to his father’s business in 1861 installed rue Rambuteau in Paris. Around 1870 he turned to the idea of producing « Meubles genre Chinois et Japonais ».
