Richard Ginori China Dinner Service with a botanical print by Munting Abraham
By Abraham Munting, Richard Ginori
Located in Roma, IT
A set of dishes made in Italy during the 80s, as attested by the date printed on the back of the plate, but inspired by 18th century porcelain, to be precise inspired by the "Saxon-style", a term which can be ascribed to the 18th-century Germanic tradition, according to which porcelain was made with reliefs similar to woven baskets. This vintage dinner service is produced by a historic Italian manufacturer "Richard Ginori" founded in Tuscany, in Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, of which Gio Ponti was creative director for 10 years. After declaring bankruptcy in 2013, this historic porcelain factory, in operation since 1735, was taken over by the Gucci group which restarted the production of iconic pieces and novelties inspired by archive pieces of the company. This set of dishes is a rarity as it is the result of an unusual combination that has the 18th century as its common thread, with the Rococo style, the scientific discoveries and the new botanical varieties resulting from the new trade routes of the companions of the Indies. On the classic Richard Ginori series, i.e. the total white motif called "Vecchio Ginori" (currently put back into production by Gucci) always and exclusively produced in total white, a botanical print by Abraham Munting depicting an orange plant was printed. Abraham Munting is a Dutch botanist famous for his unusual illustrations where plant species were depicted against a background of classic or pastoral landscapes, often floating in midair with little regard for perspective and relative sizes, in fact, the orange plant is not forced to inside the center of the plate but goes outside the predefined spaces wrapping it. The dinner set consists of 30 pieces: 6 dessert or appetizer plates with a diameter of 19.5 cm 12 soup plates with a diameter of 23cm 12 dinner plates with a diameter of 24.5 cm The service could be considered for 6 with the double serving plate for soups and second courses, or you could purchase 6 totally white fruit plates...

18th Century, Pair of Italian Rococo Chinoiserie Lacquered Wood Corner Cabinets
Located in IT
18th Century, Pair of Italian Rococo Chinoiserie Lacquered Wood Corner Cabinets This pair of corner cabinets was made in Piedmont, Italy, around the middle of the eighteenth century according to the taste of the baroque. The structure is in poplar wood, lacquered and decorated on the front side. The central body consists of an open door that conceals a compartment with two shelves. Above, a mixed cymatium crowns the piece of furniture and consists of two small tops bordered with gold leaf on red bole. Equally finished in gold are reserves and frames that decorate the furniture highlighting the various parts of which it is composed. Below the door, a open compartment is presented by a quadrilobate profile. The piece of furniture is decorated with floral ornaments and polychrome chinoiserie designs partly in relief thanks to the application of cast plaster. Inside the side frames are depicted characters dressed in oriental with floral decorations typical of fashion in chinoiserie. The two central doors have different designs, animated by oriental figures dressed in Chinese clothes...

18th Century, Pair of Italian Rococò Carved Giltwood Benches
Located in IT
18th Century, pair of Italian Rococo carved giltwood benches. This elegant pair of two-seater benches was built in the second half of the 18th century in Rome, Italy. The structure, in richly carved and gilded wood, has the characteristics of the Baroque period. The band under the seat has a mixed profile and is carved with rocaille motifs and rich floral decoration in relief in the central part. The four legs, curved and moved, have on the uprights the same carvings and in the terminal part of the foot emerges a scroll. The rear uprights, carved with curled end, are higher than the seat, in order to slender the image of the benches vertically. The seat is lined with velvet from a later period. These benches can be exhibited in pairs or individually in entrances or corridors, in living rooms and studios or in a room at the foot of the bed. They can also be placed below large paintings. Very decorative, bright and graceful, they are suitable both in contexts characterized by antique and modern furniture.
