Art Moderne Redux in Los Angeles

The opportunity to design a new, ground-up home for a client who wished to replace a small house with a new piece of architecture allowed me to in a most classic 1930s, American Moderne style very close to my own favorite tastes. In its composition everything is made to feel good and considered. What seems unadorned is not undetailed. A series of streamlined, squared volumes encapsulate an interior of elegant steppings and sinuous curves. With a stripped palette, an inky, French-polished ebony threshold and flack linoleum floor present a solid ocean for furniture to be cast in. Its low-buffed finish cascades light that bathes each cavity with a sultry glow.
